Driving the export of local products
In 2015, Falabella Argentina launched Falabella Exporta, an initiative aimed at promoting the export of local products to international markets. The project required the creation of a multilingual website in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, where local producers could showcase their products, access market studies, stay informed about trade fairs and conventions, and calculate shipping costs. Usability testing was crucial to ensure an intuitive and effective user experience. The resulting website facilitated the international expansion of Argentine products, consolidating the offerings of local producers and developing new markets.
Creating an effective international platform
Falabella Exporta faced the challenge of creating a digital platform that allowed Argentine producers to offer their products in international markets efficiently and effectively. The website needed to be multilingual to cater to a global audience and provide a seamless user experience. Additionally, it was necessary to include specific sections such as market studies, news about trade fairs and conventions, and a tool for calculating shipping costs. Usability testing was essential to ensure the platform was intuitive and easy to use for local producers.
Key problems included:

The primary users were Argentine producers of food and other products interested in expanding their businesses internationally. Business requirements included facilitating the export of products, increasing the visibility of Argentine products in international markets, and providing useful tools and resources for exporters.
A comprehensive approach to expansion
To tackle these challenges, a multifaceted approach was implemented:
- Multilingual Website: A website was created available in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, allowing users from different regions to access information and services in their preferred language.
- Producer Platform: A platform was developed where local producers could register and offer their products. This section included the ability to upload detailed product information and calculate shipping costs.
- Market Studies Section: A dedicated section for market studies was added, providing valuable information about different international markets and helping producers make informed decisions about their export strategies.
- News on Trade Fairs and Conventions: A news section was included to inform users about relevant trade fairs and conventions in the international arena, facilitating connections with potential buyers and business partners.
- Usability Testing: Extensive usability testing was conducted to ensure the website was intuitive and easy to use. This included testing with local producers to identify and resolve potential navigation and usability issues.
Significant impact on exporting
The project resulted in a significant increase in the number of producers using the platform to export their products. The multilingual functionality attracted international buyers, and the market studies section helped producers better understand their target markets. The shipping cost calculation tool facilitated logistical planning, and the news on trade fairs and conventions kept producers informed about key opportunities. Usability testing ensured an optimal user experience, resulting in a high satisfaction rate among users.
